Community Renewable Energy
Helping communities develop their own renewable energy systems to generate community income and address climate change
Franchise Details
Sector: Energy
Key social purpose:
To generate renewable energy and reduce carbon emissions
Key elements of your franchise offer:
CoRE aims to increase the number of community owned renewable energy systems (ie larger than domestic). We do this by working in partnership with a community. We do not charge a community for our work but as a stakeholder in the renewable energy system, we take a share of the profits. We use this share to work with other communites. The community use their share of the income to benefit their members. We work on a wide range of renewable energy systems (generally above 50 kW), anaerobic digesters, wind turbines, hydro schemes, photovoltaic and so on. We are essentially a federation of communites that supports our members by providing technical skills, shared services (eg energy sales or ability to raise finance) and replicable models for developing renewable energy systems.
